The Origins of NASCHAIR
NASCHAIR began in the summer of 2006 when an excited squadron of young professionals from Smith-Dahmer Associates dashed out of their offices on a sunny Friday afternoon and raced their office chairs through the streets of St. Joseph, Michigan. This amazing act of excitement and rebellion attracted national attention and spawned a phenomenon known as NASCHAIR.
NASCHAIR Overview
"NASCHAIR 2008 was an afternoon of thrills, chills and occasional spills" reported the Herald Palladium the following morning. More than 300 NASCHAIR fans showed up on the bluff of St. Joseph to witness the third, sanctioned NASCHAIR Challenge. Lake Blvd. was closed to through-traffic and lined with customized
office chairs, and racers clad in team uniforms. Twenty seven teams competed in the double elimination tournament, and although awards were given for most creative chair and most creative uniforms, only three teams left with trophies and the honor of being known in our community as Champions.
NASCHAIR Builds Families
Through Sponsorships and registration fees NASCHAIR has raised more than $10,000 for Harbor Habitat for Humanity that has gone directly toward building new homes for a deserving Partner Family
Naschair and Harbor Habitat for Humanity
The Annual Naschair Challenge is a fun and creative event that raises funds to benefit Harbor Habitat for Humanity in their effort to eradicate substandard housing in Benton Harbor. We are inviting local businesses and organizations throughout our community to wheel their office chairs from behind their desks and bring them to the bluff in St. Joseph to race against other community focused chair athletes in a tournament to decide who is the NASCHAIR Champion.
The money raised through NASCHAIR corporate sponsorships and registration fees will go toward the construction of new Habitat homes in Benton Harbor
